What inspired you to pursue a career in massage therapy/wellness?

I am motivated to initiate lasting change by guiding clients and practitioners away from the transitory and transactional, one-size-fits-most service structure commonly observed in the wellness industry. Instead, I strive to provide individuals with a wellness experience that cultivates connection through self expression, creativity, and choice. I want the client’s treatment sessions to be their time for what they need. I believe wellness services can be both therapeutic and experiential, and I feel Iava Wellness is an environment that embodies this.

What advice would you give to someone who has never had a massage before?

While clients may not know how to specifically plan their therapeutic treatments, without a doubt, I believe that clients always have a sense of direction for their wellness journey. I want to hear this from clients It might sounds like “I don’t want to feel this way anymore” or “I don’t want to be experiencing this day after day” or “I feel really nurtured when this happens”. For this reason, I believe that clients should be empowered to co-create their massage experience with their practitioner. I want to encourage clients to advocate for their therapeutic goals while acknowledging their individuality and their intuition. In other words, use the treatment room to be a safe space to express who they are, what they desire from life, and feel worthy of nurturing that part of themselves.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and how do you stay healthy and balanced in your own life?

I enjoy exploring my inner creativity! Whether that means going to farmers’ markets to find ingredients for a new recipe or checking out local theatre performances that give me goosebumps or changing up my hair every 2 months to try on a new look, there are endless opportunities to explore my own sense of self expression and remain curious about my ever-evolving self.

Who usually comes to see you/ what are they often looking for?

Commonly being an individual who practices regular self-care, Tracy’s clients do not consider massage synonymous with self-indulgence or selfishness. Tracy’s clients tend to have a natural tendency toward personal growth and development and often consider themselves to be multi-faceted individuals. Often seeking grounding energy or deep relaxation, Tracy is known to be an effective therapeutic practitioner while providing beautiful intuitive reminders of self-worth, and a scalp massage to melt away any stressors.

What is your favourite way to move your body?

I really enjoy intuitive movement to explore and express myself. While I am a yoga instructor, my love is with yin yoga. A place to release stress. A time to explore your body. A means to listen to the voices in your head. A space to feel out those things.

I also enjoy morning dance parties in my kitchen with my three daughters.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about learning and growth - both professionally and personally. One of the reasons I chose Massage Therapy as a career was the knowledge that I can hold space for individuals in seasons of transition while I can fulfill my learning bug through continuing education and client connections. I’m constantly seeking to understand EVERYTHING on a deeper level - and I love exploring that intersection of science and spirituality. Biopsychosocial insights and references light me up.
